Where is Portpatrick?

 

Portpatrick is in South-West Scotland.

Located in the far western reaches of Dumfries & Galloway, the village lies  on the western coast of the Rhinns of Galloway.

 

Being under the influence of the Gulf Stream it has a mild climate, as evidenced by the many temperate and sub-tropical plants growing in the area.

The village is about 8 miles south of the port town of Stranraer.
 

20 miles across the the stretch of water known as the North Channel is Ireland. You can sit up in bed in Moir Cottage and look out on the Irish coast.
